EXPENSIVE

Lucky’s Some people just adore it, others find it over-rated.  Either way, its not cheap, but if you want a steak it’s the place to go.  Great bar.

Miramar Hotel Brand new very high end hotel with multiple bars and restaurants, one on the beach.  Everyone is talking about it. LA Celebrity sightings, if you are into that.

Stonehouse Restaurant at San Ysidro Ranch Main restaurant in this storied hotel.

Plough and Angel Bistro at San Ysidro Ranch Second restaurant, supposedly informal.  Just as expensive as the main one. Very pretty outside eating area under trees. Possible Royal sightings.

CHEAP AND CHEERFUL

Brophy Bros Stunning view, great atmosphere.  Not gourmet, but good enough.  Fresh fish.  We love it, as do all our out of town guests.

Jeaninnes Cafe Great for breakfast and lunch

Renauds Patisserie (Coast Village Road) Excellent patisserie,  wonderful  cakes,  great sandwiches

Mesa Burger Excellent burger on Coast Village Road

BEST BEACHES

Butterfly Beach: Great at low tide for a  decent walk. Early evening is fabulous.  Finish up with a drink at the Four Seasons Biltmore.

Summerland beach: Good for long walks

Jogging and biking: The bike path runs all the way along the beach from the bird sanctuary, past the harbor,  to  the Mesa, about three miles.  Great for beachside walking, running and biking

FAVORITE WINERY

Foley: Of all the wineries in the area, our favorite is Foley Estates. In our opinion, it has the very best Pinot Noirs available. You will not be disappointed.

SPA

The Ritz Carlton Hotel & Resort has a full Spa, situated about 15 minutes drive north on the 101, just outside town.

OTHER YUMMY THINGS
